The most common bridal underwear mistake: buying the lingerie after the dress fitting. By then, the seamstress has already fitted to what you're wearing today. If you switch to something different — even a different bra — the fit changes.
Do Your Bridal Fitting First
Book your Karnation appointment before your first dress fitting, or at least before any alterations. Bring what you plan to wear on the day. If you're still choosing, we'll help you narrow it down based on the gown style.
By Gown Type
**Strapless:** A convertible underwire bra that can go strapless works well if the band is very firm. A longline strapless bra provides more coverage and stays put better. Avoid adhesive bras unless you've tested them for a full day — they shift.
**Backless or low-back:** Self-adhesive cups or a low-back converter work here. We carry both and can help you test longevity before the day.
**A-line or ball gown:** You have the most flexibility — almost any style works. Shapewear under the bodice is an option if you want a smoother silhouette.
**Mermaid or bodycon:** Seamless, low-cut shapewear that doesn't create visible lines above the knee. A longline style pulls double duty.
**Plus-size gowns:** Extended-size shapewear and bras that provide lift without compression are essential. We carry both in bands up to 54.
The Robe for Getting Ready
Don't overlook the getting-ready photos. A satin robe — personalized or plain — is worth having. We carry several styles and can order in your size.
